Kevin King, ME senior and tennis player, has been named Scholar Athlete of the Year by the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 2011-12 academic year.

King is a three-time All-ACC selection and earned ITA All-American honors in 2011. He played near the top of Georgia Tech's singles line-up and ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation this past year as a senior.  Competing as a professional, King was recently victorious over a UGA alum and rival competitor in the first round of the BB&T Atlanta Open.

The Peachtree City, Ga., native was tabbed the ACC Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2012 and was a key facilitator in the Tech men's tennis program's "adoption" of a local nine-year-old boy battling cancer through the Friends of Jaclyn Program.

The awards are presented annually on each campus and recipients are selected by criteria determined by each institution.  Heidi Hatteberg, AE senior, is also the receipient of this award.
