With the 2011-2012 academic year coming to a close, it’s remarkable to take a look back at what we accomplished in twelve short months.

  • Our faculty made history in collaboratively revising and approving a new curriculum that will lead the nation in mechanical and multi-disciplinary engineering education, providing our students with the flexibility in their programs of study to give them a competitive-edge upon entering the workforce.
  • Our students continue to lead the Institute with their innovative thinking and inventions, most of which were created in our very own Invention Studio, showcased each semester at the Capstone Design Expo.
  • Our alumni are leaders and influencers in their fields and some were recognized at this year’s College of Engineering Alumni Awards ceremony, including Henry Pruitt who was inducted into the Georgia Tech Engineering Hall of Fame, and Ralph Cleveland, Jr. and Carl Ring, both inducted into the Georgia Tech Academy of Distinguished Engineers. These inductees are added to a long line of past honorees from the Woodruff School.
  • Our staff does an outstanding job of supporting the ever-increasing growth of the school, even with the reduction in state resources. The communications team revamped the school’s website and begins a strong focus and emphasis on dynamic and social media in an effort to share all the extraordinary news and happenings at the school.

In summary, the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering has always been and remains dedicated to the success of our people. Out of that success, we are transforming lives, creating solutions for the world’s grand solutions, and thereby changing the world. It’s a great time to be a part of the Woodruff School – and I look forward to your continued future engagement and support!
