2017-18 Recruitment Cycle

The Nuclear & Radiological Engineering and Medical Physics (NRE/MP) Programs at Georgia Tech invite applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the levels of Assistant and Associate Professor. Of particular interest are applicants interested in teaching and developing research programs in Medical Physics (MP). The MP Program at Georgia Institute of Technology is CAMPEP-accredited, and it offers both MS and Ph.D. degrees. We seek an outstanding individual who has the desire and capacity to build a research program in areas including medical imaging, algorithm development for tomographic reconstruction, application of imaging for radiation therapy targeting, and advanced radiation therapy planning are encouraged to apply. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in medical physics, nuclear engineering or a related engineering or physical science area.  Candidate must be able to complete laboratory training, a background check, and drug testing.  Candidate must have experience with research and practice of medical physics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with teaching courses in medical physics.  Experience with clinical medical physics studies.  Experience in the handling and processing of radioactive materials.  Previous training or education in fundamentals of radiation interactions.    Proposal writing experience.

Those applying for Associate Professor level position should have established records in research that demonstrates nationally and internationally recognized expertise. Industrial experience is desirable, but not required. The position requires a balance of undergraduate teaching, graduate teaching, and research.

The NRE Program at Georgia Tech offers the BS, MS, and PhD degrees in NRE and the MP Program offers the MS degree in MP and the PhD degree as an option under NRE. Strong research programs in computational reactor physics, radiation transport, fuel cycle and waste management, fission and fusion reactor design, fusion plasma physics, nuclear materials, nuclear heat removal, nuclear safeguards, radiation detection and radiation protection are ongoing in the NRE Program (www.nre.gatech.edu).

NRE/MP Laboratory Operations Manager

TheNRE/MP LaboratoryOperations ManagerisakeypositionthatsupportstheRadiationScience andEngineeringLaboratory{RSEL)and theNuclearandRadiologicalEngineering/MedicalPhysics(NRE/MP) Program facilities under the auspices of the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute ofTechnology.

The NRE/MP Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations and the development of research within the RSEL. Daily operations include student research, experiments by outside users, and running laboratory courses.  The RSEL facility has many resources including neutron generators, neutron sources, radiation sources, radiation detection equipment and a Varian Clinac.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD degree in engineering or a physical science.    Candidate must be able to complete laboratory training, a background check, and drug testing.  Candidate must have experience with neutron and gamma-ray detection and quantification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with training students and staff.  Experience with experiment safety analysis.    Experience with nuclear facility security.  Experience in the handling and processing of radioactive materials.  Experience in the use of standard chemistry laboratory equipment.  Previous training or education in fundamentals of radiation interactions.  Proposal writing experience.
