"High Energy Neutron Dosimetry"
Radiation dosimetry around high-energy facilities is a challenge due to the multiplicity of radiations produced and the wide energy range involved. Physical measurements of the radiation field such as particle fluence may be applied to radiation protection by the use of conversion coefficients. Conversion coefficients relate the radiation protection and operational quantities to physical quantities. Conversion coefficients for the currently recommended protection quantity, effective dose and the currently recommended operational quantity, ambient dose equivalent will be calculated for neutrons with energies from 20 MeV to 2 GeV. An absorbed dose measurement and calculation will be performed to validate the computational tools used in the conversion coefficient calculations.
